Back to Basics: Eyeliner

Lancome Le Crayon Khol Eyeliner Pencil/ Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen Carbon Black Extreme
I am not even a very high maintenance person but when it comes to makeup, I am definitely the one with most products compared to the barefaced girlfriends around me.  Once in a while there will be some special occasion, and my darlings will freak me out with their badly applied eyeliners. A round of applause for their attempt, but since they don't practice on a daily basis, they draw their eyeliner too far from their lashes, leaving their waterline and lash-line blank. I will always ask for permission to help them with touch up. And this inspired me to write this blogpost for those who want to know how I do my eyeliner.

There are two parts for the liner, the upper waterline and the lashline.
- Fill in the waterline with an eyeliner pencil. The waterline is the white line that reveals underneath the upper lashes when you squeeze open your upper eyelid. I use pencil as it is not as clean and blends in better.
(I usually just apply eyeliner in my waterline solo if I am going for a more natural, non-eyeliner obvious look.)
- Fill in spaces in between lashes or the lashline with liquid eyeliner pencil. I usually like to start from the end of my eye.
- Drag the eyeliner along the lashline from the end of the eye to the beginning of the eye. Fill in the all spaces in between.
- Wing out at the end of the eye. Extend flat out along the shape of the eye for a natural look.
- Add mascara and false lashes.
Viola. Practice makes perfect.

May the wings of your eyeliner always be even.

STAGE

H&M Dress/ Zara Heels

Second set with Jiamin. A quick shoot with no team involved, just me and Jiamin running around campus with our kits, leaving it aside to shoot, and me walking in my heels while carrying my suitcase of clothes to the next location.
Different from the more playful first set, this seems more mysterious and dramatic. Jiamin even said that she tried to make this contrast during editing as she feels the two sides really represent me. I even got to showcase some of my dance moves for the more stage-like feel.

Also, my makeup Picotee.

Just a staircase that would lead me to classes, and it is a totally new scene when you see it with a different perspective.

Meet the New Kid from the Block

Topshop Denim Overall/ Zara Crop Top/ Schutz Heels/ BCBG MaxAzria Rings/ Fallon Earrings

A photoshoot from 4 months ago. I have shot with Jiamin a few times already, and I am definitely honored when she agreed to squeeze precious time from her wedding preparation to shoot these with me.

I was graduating at the time, so having these locations where I spend endless of my college days captured in the camera was so meaningful. Taking a new perspective to my modeling work, I incorporated the trendiest denim overalls with a playful vibe. To avoid looking rustic, I added punk-rock jewelry and heels. Picotee is how I did my makeup.

The cherry blossom trees, grass fields, gothic architecture, and starbucks coffee is what I miss......

HAUL

Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder (Real Sand)
Third one of these, and still an absolute favorite. Use it on a daily basis and it does not clog your pores; has just the right amount of coverage for a daytime look; and saves morning time by just buffing it on the face with a brush.

Vintage Gold Necklace/ Butter Nail Polish (Knees Up)
Found this vintage gold necklace on a jewelry store while visiting Princeton University. The calendar style is so unique and It is also 50% off. Who cares if September is not my birthday month.
Prada Baroque Sunglasses
 Nars Laguna Bronzer
YSL Babydoll Kiss & Blush Lips & Cheeks (Rouge Effrontee)
One that takes care of both your lips and cheeks. Definitely a travel essential, as it not only save room, but when packing light for a vacation and just bringing basic white tees and denim, this extra pop of color makes the whole look complete. The only down side is the lack of moisture and how dry it feels on the lips. Needs lip balm for a companion.
Cartier Bracelet/ Gold Bracelet

Classic B&W

Zara Shirt/ American Apparel Easy Jeans/ Valentino Lizard Rockstud Heels/ Michael Kors Watch/ Fallon Earrings

A quick little shot before going out with a friend on a Saturday. It may be overwhelming to wear jeans on such a hot scorching day, but I really want o balance out the lower neckline. It is my rule to only focus and show off one sexy part at a time. Another choice will be to wear boxy boy shorts instead of these hight waisted jeans to go with this Zara top. Overall enjoying my classic combination of black and white.

Empire State of Mind

 Talula Blazer/ I <3 NY Souvenir T-shirt/ H&M Shorts/ Karen Walker Sunglasses/ Balenciaga Bag/ Gold Jewelry

Second time in New York, but the first time I get to walk around and sightsee. The Empire State does not disappoint with the busy streets and people that have long been used to the crowd.
After coming back down from the 86th floor on the Empire State Building, I had to buy that I<3NY T-shirt like most tourists. I also went teen size for a more tight-fitting look. A trip of two long weeks allows no space for excess luggage and everything I brought with me are basic. Simplicity is best you know.

(There is no sooner or later, right time or wrong time. Things happen when it has to happen.)
